You Are So Much More Than Your Size

In a world that often places emphasis on physical appearance, it’s important to remember that we are so much more than just our size. Society tends to define us by numbers on a scale or the size of our clothing, but the truth is that our worth goes far beyond these superficial measurements. Each and every one of us is a unique individual with a multitude of qualities.

As a fashion enthusiast, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of transitioning my closet from breezy summer clothing to cozy and stylish pieces of fall and winter. I am always filled with anticipation as I eagerly await my trips to the mall with my friends, where we embark on a quest to discover the most adorable and fashionable clothing pieces to prepare ourselves for the upcoming winter season. Ah, the anticipation of this season is simply exhilarating!

However, it’s important to acknowledge that it can also bring about a touch of unease. We find ourselves grappling with those pesky intrusive thoughts, wondering if we will feel anxiety in the fitting room due to how our body looks. When it comes to our sense of identity and self-expression, there is a vast array of factors that contribute to how we can perceive ourselves beyond the body.

In the vast sea of influences that shape our identities, it’s fascinating to explore the myriad of factors that contribute to our unique selves. While this list is by no means exhaustive, it offers a glimpse into the diverse elements that can influence the many components of our identity.

There are many components that make up who you are beyond your body. 

Your Personality

Personality is like a snowflake; each individual has their own distinct characteristics. Personality encompasses the intricate interplay of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It defines who we are as individuals, shaping our unique identities and influencing the way we interact with the world around us. Everyone has a unique personality that sets them apart from others. It’s what makes us who we are and influences how we interact with the world around us. You possess distinctive characteristics and qualities that effortlessly captivate those around you far more than your body alone ever could.

Your Hobbies 

In this fast-paced world, there is an incessant demand for our time and energy. For some fortunate individuals, they have the privilege of pursuing their passions and doing what they love day in and day out. However, many of us eagerly anticipate those precious moments so we can immerse ourselves in the activities that truly speak to our souls. What do you do in your free time that you immensely enjoy? Some people like to sing and dance, some people like to draw and paint, others like to cook and bake. The activities we engage in during our leisure hours can provide valuable insights into an individual’s character and interests. Hobbies allow us to unleash our inner selves to express our passions.

Your Beliefs 

When it comes to forming connections, whether it’s in friendship, dating, or choosing our social circle, it’s only natural that we seek out individuals whose beliefs and values resonate with our own. Our beliefs serve as a powerful reflection of our core values and priorities. They reflect on what we think is right and what we think is wrong. It can be argued that our beliefs shape our very identity, as they have a profound impact on our actions and decisions.

Your Dreams and Aspirations

Our deepest desires and aspirations for our lives reveal profound insights into our true selves and the things we yearn for in this existence. Our dreams and aspirations reveal a lot about our beliefs and values. Who you want to be and the goals you want to achieve play a role in who you are.

Your Life Experiences 

Experiences have a remarkable way of teaching and shaping us. As humans, we traverse a multitude of life experiences that leave an indelible mark on our very being, shaping and molding us into the unique individuals we are today. Your life experiences are unique in their detailed occurrences and impact you in a unique way, that although it may seem similar to another, it’s not.

Your Soul/Consciousness 

When it comes to defining our essence, some may argue that we consist of both our physical form and our spiritual being. Alternatively, if you prefer the concept of consciousness, you can opt to use that term instead. Your soul is the exquisite essence that encapsulates your very being, shaping the very fabric of your existence. It is this ethereal consciousness that sets you apart, defining the very essence of who you are as an individual. It is the essence of our souls, the authentic core of our being, that truly shapes our identity and comprises our very existence. 

 

So, the next time you look in the mirror, I want you to take a step back and truly appreciate the exquisite qualities that define your being. When it comes to your uniqueness, your body is just a small piece of the puzzle that is you.

When you find yourself with a spare moment to engage in some introspection, take out your journal and pen down a list of at least ten elements that comprise the essence of your being. Focus on the aspects that define you beyond your body. When it comes to defining one’s true essence, it is the inner you that truly shape and define your unique identity.
