Primary Therapist

Courtney is a Primary Therapist and Case Manager at BALANCE eating disorder treatment center.  Courtney received her Master's Degree in Drama Therapy at New York University. She is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist with the New York State Education Department, and a Registered Drama Therapist certified by the National Association for Drama Therapy.  She has facilitated drama therapy and counseling with many populations in a broad range of settings, such as child/adolescent inpatient psychiatry, adult inpatient psychiatry, forensic inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatric rehabilitation, school based programs for autism spectrum disorder, family violence centers, as well as in private practice.  At BALANCE, Courtney leads Drama Therapy and other process oriented groups in the Day Treatment Programming and Intensive Outpatient Programming.  Courtney also is the group leader and facilitator for the BALANCE outpatient group focusing on Body Image.  She has presented at BALANCE and other conferences/workshops on understanding physical and emotional hunger cues in the treatment of eating disorders utilizing a collaborative approach of dietetics and creative arts therapies. She specializes in utilizing core concepts of Drama Therapy and the application of these concepts to meeting each client where they are at in their personal recovery from an eating disorder.
