Our Programs > Therapy Group for Pregnant Women
Meets weekly on Wednesdays 6:15 pm-7:30 pm
Led by Courtney Dowdell, MA, RDT, LCAT with nutritional guidance from Melainie Rogers, MS, RDN, CDN, CEDRD
This group is being offered for women going through all stages of pregnancy. The group will center on exploring one’s relationship with food and body image during this time of profound transition in a woman’s life. The group will address the importance of nutrition and self-care during pregnancy and will focus on some of the unique stressors pregnant women face. Issues discussed will include relationships with partner and family, self-esteem and one’s identity as a mother, balancing work/career with upcoming parenting responsibilities and other issues identified by group members for discussion. There will be a focus for women currently struggling with eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating and other disordered eating and body image issues. The group will integrate both psychological/relational concerns with biological/nutritional considerations during pregnancy. Both group leaders are mothers themselves and thus will bring their professional and personal experience in providing guidance to the group.
